Special Event this week canceled!

Sunday jams continue to be a blast, 1-3PM at the Phoenix Center, and this week, we are sorry, but our teacher for tonight's class on scores, Rek, is on her way from the hurricane in NYC.  She tried to find rides and flights and trains, but the soonest she'll get here is late tonight.  Hopefully she'll be back to teach again someday!

Summer Jam!

Wow, what a great jam this week--lots of new people, great energy in the whole room.  Welcome to all the newcomers, and great to see dancers we know after some Summer travels.  Jams continue every Sunday from 1-3PM at the Phoenix Center and Tuesdays from 7-9 in Detroit.  See you there!

Two Detroit Jams in a Row! Time change to noon on 7-15.

Sundays July 15th and 22nd, we will *not* meet at the Phoenix Center in Ann Arbor, but rather dance in Detroit for two big events:

Sunday July 15th is the final day of Concert of Colors 2012, and Nina used her great contacts to get us permission to dance inside at Orchestra Hall on Sunday!  There is a performance (LaRon Williams) at 2PM, so we will dance from noon-2.  The address is 3711 Woodward Avenue, 48201.  The room we'll be in is directly inside the main doors on Woodward, the "Music Box", not the main concert hall.  When 2PM comes around, we can always move outside to the lawn to the South of Orchestra Hall if we'd like to keep doing contact.
See you then!

Here's a map to Orchestra Hall.

Here's more information about the Concert of Colors.

Sunday July 22nd, we will be an official project in Figment Detroit, a huge "celebration of participatory art and culture" on Belle Isle.  The festival runs 12-6 Saturday and Sunday, but we'll plan on meeting at our usual time, 1-3PM.  There will probably be lots of new people at this jam, and other artists and visitors to the festival may join us at any time, so be ready to have some great first dances with people and show them the ropes!

Here's a map to Belle Isle.

See you in the D soon!

Beginner Class Sunday July 1st

In addition to our regular 1-3PM jam at the Phoenix Center, I'll be teaching a beginner class Sunday July first from 5-6PM as part of the Retreat Series of the Summer Festival.  It'll be in the grassy area between the Alumni Center and the Michigan League, near Top of the Park.  I'm hoping to include elements of first contact and the rolling point, some momentum, and some weight-sharing.  Please let your friends know--it's a great way to keep our jam going strong!
